Lights Out?
Night shots from 01 August 2005
One topic of conversation about the Marina is the question of how many units sold are actually occupied. Are most buyers non-resident looking to make profit in the re-sale market? The photos below contrast the bright lights in towers still under construction with those already completed.
The 6 towers of Dubai Marina Phase 1 (at right) completed in late 2003, compared with one tower (at left) under construction.
The Grosvenor House hotel and residences (far left) opened in July 2005, compared with the same tower (at right) under construction.
The brightly lit up Jumeirah Beach Residences in the heat of construction.

Hi Bruce!
Although a rather high number of Dubai Marina properties is owned by expats, the Dubai Marina attracts local UAE nationals too. I think that once the construction dust clears up, the Marina will be a nice place too live.
